“Over the years, we have had so many brilliant moments, from aeroplanes making hearts in the sky, a dog walk around the farm with all the guests, axe-throwing, archery, a sports day complete with the bride on a space hopper, drag queens, butlers in the buff, singing waiters, donkey rides, a horse drinking Guinness at the bar and so much more. We have the space available to do all these things and as a team, we love anything fun or different!”
Expert advice
Katie explains that her journey into the wedding industry came about by chance:
“I sort of accidentally fell into the wedding industry after using a barn on our family farm for our own wedding. A few months later, a friend asked if his brother could hire it and do the same as we did, then it snowballed from there! In the early days, we were definitely on a really steep learning curve, but as the business evolved and grew, so did my understanding and knowledge.”
Katie also shares her favourite thing about working in the wedding industry:
“By a long shot, [it’s] the people I have met along the way, especially our team, our couples, wedding guests and other suppliers. It’s an amazing and unique industry to be in. Of course there have been challenges along the way, but these are what have helped us grow, learn and improve.”
When it comes to expert wedding planning advice, Katie advises:
“Try tackling one thing at a time. When you are planning your wedding, you are bringing together a huge number of elements. Make a priority list and focus on one thing at a time rather than stressing yourself out by doing it all at once!”
