Description

Celebrate life, love and happiness Nestled in the heart of an English country village, welcoming visitors from near and far over 400 years, The Bell is no ordinary wedding venue. We like to be a bit different, use our imagination and pull out all the stops to make your day truly memorable, whether you want a cosy winter wedding with log fires or to throw open the doors to let the sunshine in. The Bell’s design is eclectic in the truest sense of the word. The building looks as if an eccentric nobleman has travelled the world and stuffed his house full of curiosities from his travels. The result is utterly charming. Local ales on tap, heart-warming food sourced from local suppliers and attentive staff make any stay memorable. The seven guest rooms offer highly individual design, with features including silver birch branches, huge copper bath tubs, upside-down tiles and randomly placed light features. The Love Nest and three lodges are set in beautifully designed gardens around a central fire pit. The Love Nest has a wood-burning stove, copper bath, double shower and a private roof terrace. Our Big Room for fancy dos can accommodate 90 guests sitting down and up to 120 for evening parties. So whether you want to get married at The Bell or simply celebrate your nuptials with us, we are yours for the day. NEW FOR 2020!!! We are currently undergoing an extension / refurb within our function rooms, this is set to be completed by the middle of March. The reason for undertaking this development is to offer couples greater exclusivity by creating an independent bar and fabulous seating adjacent to The Stable and more space upstairs in The Assembly Hall. Of course, the decor will have that certain unique Bell quirkiness and we are delighted to be working with a talented designer, Melissa White to create our very own Bell wallpaper. The last couple of photos in the album are CGI visuals of what the new space is likely to look like.

Better than I ever could have imagined

Everything about the venue was absolutely perfect, from beginning to end. Tessa the wedding coordinator was incredible and kept everything under control, the food was unbelievable, the staff were so much fun, and the venue itself is one of a kind. If you’re looking for a wedding venue with a difference, I would 100% recommend The Bell, and so many of our guests said it was the best wedding they ever went to!

It's quirky, rustic, relaxed and fun

We had our wedding at The Bell in October 2018. We fell in love with the place the moment we stepped inside and knew we wanted our day to be held there! It's quirky, rustic, relaxed and fun which is everything we wanted. Tessa was absolutely fantastic in the lead up and planning our of big day, we couldn't have asked for more from her. Despite some hiccups on the day itself (great British weather being one of them!) the team made sure everything ran as smoothly as possible. Thanks to everyone involved!

A massive thank you!

Just got back from our honeymoon but wanted to message you with a massive thank you for everything you guys did for us. Hannah and Pip were absolutely fantastic and went way beyond what was expected. My friend who helped on the day also commented just how good the girls were and she runs a vintage wedding hire service. Everything went to plan from start to finish and was amazing which includes the food. The room set up took the girls a long time and suspect their fingers still have the imprint of the lighters on them!!! We really couldn't have chosen a better venue and our guests were delighted with their rooms and the quirky feel. Thanks again

It was just perfect

We recently had our wedding reception at the Bell and it was just perfect. Considering how many weddings the Bell does, we were worried that it might not feel like it was very personal and would have been like every other wedding. But the enthusiasm of every staff member during that day and night (and even the night before) was just amazing, they clearly really care about every single wedding that they do and it ended up feeling really personal to us. In the lead up to the wedding Tessa was always easy to get hold of and was really flexible with our last minute changes. On the day we were well looked after and we felt like we could really relax and everything was taken care of. The majority of our guests complimented the venue, especially the pub garden and the food (the lamb was AMAZING). The rooms were cosy and comfortable. Overall the Bell made everything stress free and relaxed and made sure we enjoyed our day. Although we would like to keep it as our little wedding venue we would 100% recommend it.

Strongly recommend

We got married at The Bell in February 2017 and would strongly recommend it as a wedding venue. During the lead up to the wedding, Tessa (wedding coordinator) was always so polite, organised and patient with us (I was a slightly ditsy bride) The best thing about Tess is that she made it feel like it was just us getting married, even though she probably had a million things going on she always had plenty of time for us. The venue itself is quirky but very warm and welcoming. The food & drink was absolutely delicious and all our lovely veggie/diary free guests were catered for with no problem. The bedrooms are fun and cosy and we really didn't want to leave. Thank you to all the staff who helped in the lead up and on the day. You really made the day perfect and we'll hopefully be back soon for some delicious pub grub!

The most incredible day

We got married on the 8th September 2016 at the Bell and it was the most incredible day thanks to the staff and the venue itself. From day one of booking, and endless email questions from myself (!) Tessa and the team could not have been more helpful or done any more for us. The venue itself is stunning, with quirky rooms and decor, a garden with an amazing fire pit (perfect for toasting marshmallows at the end of the night) and lodges that impress anyone who see's them. The Bell is relaxed and informal and the whole day just flowed perfectly - there was no stress or fuss and everyone just had a fantastic day. All of the staff (in particular Tessa and Hannah) ensured everything ran smoothly and worked tirelessly during the day behind the scenes to turn the rooms around and any requests we had were fulfilled with no issues. In the run up to the wedding Tessa always replied to my emails quickly and clearly and was so helpful and lovely. I cannot recommend the team and the Venue highly enough and I wish we could do it all over again. We will be back (probably every year!) to stay as we just love The Bell so much. Thank you again James and Clare

Just Perfect!

I cannot thank Tessa and Eve enough for making my wedding day so perfect! A fabulous location, amazing food and exceptional service! I’m a tough cookie to crack having worked in events for a very long time and they delivered a seamless wedding day for us! So professional, caring and the attention to detail is second to none. I could not have asked for more and I will certainly be going back to stay! Thank you for making our day so special, for us and our guests. We won’t forget the efforts you put in and The Bell Inn will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

Filled with twinkling lights, crackling fires.

We had the most wonderful winter wedding at the Bell Inn, filled with twinkling lights, crackling fires, winter pimms and a live band. All our close family and friends gathered for a cosy day to celebrate our next chapter. We couldn't have achieved such a magical day without the help of Tessa and the Bell crew. We didn't think the wedding would even go ahead because of the bride being so ill. But it all happened in the end and it was everything we dreamed. Thank you so much xx

Absolutely unforgettable

My husband (!) and I got married at this beautiful venue on Saturday. From the moment we walked into the Bell in January, we knew we wanted to get married there. We both wanted a relaxed day, full of fun and a brilliant party and the Bell certainly delivered. The venue is wonderfully quirky with the most amazing little details such as beautiful birch trees inside, trumpets in the men's toilet (my husband's favourite) and AMAZING lodges for your guests to stay outside. On the day we had use of 3.rooms- The Stable, which has a huge long table running down the centre of the room and the words 'I will always love you my friend' lit on the wall.. A personal highlight for me was being introduced as husband and wife and walking the length of the table to Ring the Bell at the end! The Ceremony Room- where we actually tied the knot and then partied later in the evening. The room is a beautiful space with very cool red and gold wallpaper, beautiful candeliers and wooden floors. Finally, The Snug' which is a cosy little room with a roaring log fire and beautiful leather sofas. From the moment we booked the Bell all of the staff- but specifically Tessa, Hannah and Pip- were absolutely wonderful. I honestly couldn't ask for more. They answered all of my queries promptly, were incredibly organised and patient throughout and always made me feel reassured! On the day- the girls were truly amazing. From the moment I arrived, Pip was waiting outside with an umbrella (yes, it was raining- but apparently that's lucky!). The venue looked breathtaking and just as I had imagined and the food was first class. We had slow roasted leg of Kentish lamb which just melted in your mouth. We served our own cake for pudding, but the chefs at the Bell served it beautifully with fresh raspberries, white chocolate and cream. The canapés were also gorgeous little treats! Throughout the day, my guests frequently congratulated me on finding such a beautiful venue and on the quality of the food. I also had a special surprise planned for my Husband- a Balkan Brass Band- which was a little nod to his Serbian heritage! When I told Tessa about this, she could not have been more accommodating. She helped with the organisation leading up to the wedding and kept the band hidden in the Snug until their grand entrance! The surprise went like clock work.and was my favourite part of the whole wedding. Not only were the Bell happy to accommodate a Brass band- they seemed to genuinely enjoy them too, which was really nice. The night was finished with s'mores and red wine around the fire pit- which had been lit for us sometime before. A perfect end to a perfect day. The staff at the Bell had everything in hand from start to finish and I did not have to worry about a thing (which is unusual for me). I cannot recommend the Bell highly enough. It is a wonderful, beautiful, fun venue with staff that will make your day absolutely unforgettable. We will never forget what the Bell and all the staff did for us on our special day and The Bell will always have a special place in our hearts!
